ICPC/CCPC Events and Contest Rules

Event Introduction

ICPC

ICPC (English: International Collegiate Programming Contest; Chinese: International Collegiate Programming Contest) is organized by the ICPC Foundation and is the most influential university computer programming contest. Since ACM sponsored the contest in the past, many people are also accustomed to calling it the ACM contest.

ICPC is mainly divided into Regionals and the World Finals.

CCPC

The Chinese Collegiate Programming Contest.

A notable difference from ICPC is that many schools do not reimburse the expenses.

Contest Rules

Generally, three people form a team and use one machine, with multiple submission opportunities during the contest. Submissions are judged in real time and the result is returned. If a submission is incorrect, a 20-minute penalty is incurred; the more incorrect submissions there are, the more additional penalty time is added. A problem earns points only after all data points are correct. Rankings are determined by the number of solved problems; when the number of solved problems is equal, total time is used as the tie-breaker. Total time is the sum of the times for each problem. The time for each problem is the sum of the number of minutes from the start of the contest until the problem is solved and the penalty time for that problem.

In some ICPC-related contests, the scoreboard is frozen one hour before the end of the contest. Submissions and rankings after the freeze cannot be seen by other contestants.

In ICPC-related contests, contestants are allowed to bring a certain amount of printed material.

Besides ICPC and CCPC, many contests also use these rules, such as LeetCode Weekly Contests, the National Programming Contest, and Nowcoder Xiaobai Contest practice contest challenges.
